Erfoud Morocco

"Erfoud is an oasis town in the Sahara Desert, in the Meknès-Tafilalet of the Maghreb region in eastern Morocco. Erfoud is divided into several districts: Hay Salam, Hay Jdid, Hay Ziz, Hay el Bathaa, Hay Annahda, Hay el Hamri. Due to its proximity to Merzouga desert village in the Erg Chebbi Dunes, Erfoud has developed tourist related infrastructures such as hotels and restaurants. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • Royal Palace. Erfoud holds Morocco's only Royal Palace in Sahara Desert. • Erfoud's Souq. This is an authentic Moroccan market. • Maadid Ancient Ksar. Maadid is supposedly the biggest ksar in south Morocco. A ksar is a ancient fortified village. • Carrières de fossils. Erfoud is known for its precious and unique fossils. • Borj-Est. This is the hill that overlooks Erfoud. The top is occupied by military a strategic building. • Jewish Cemetery. Interesting mix of cultures makes this part of the desert quite interesting."
